Moving Day

My family and I have to move to a different house because the landlord sold the house. But it's not a big move, it's just down the street. Pretty lame-o! But whatever. We packed up all of our stuff, and it's A LOT and we our moving to our new house, right. down. the. street. I'm not emotionally attached to this house, we only lived here for 2 years, I didn't have my childhood here, but Marc is. He still misses our old house though, he tells us all the time. My wish is that one day we'll have a house under our name once again and Marc could have a house to always call home and a room painted and decorated to his liking. He said I could decorate his new room, but since we're renting I can't paint a mural like in his old room, little Marky would love that.
So right now I'm drinking the last bits of coffee and I feel my energy pills that I took for this long fay kicking in, that's a sign to get off the computer and get moving. Well on the bright side, I get to decorate a whole new room and Itzel and Marc said I could design their room as well. I'm happy. One day people will be handing me checks for designing their rooms.
Gonna go start moving, now!

DIY R2D2 Toms

My sister asked me to paint her Toms after seeing a pair of R2D2 Toms on Pintrest. So following the same design, I recreated them and I must say, they look pretty cool.

What you need

  • Gesso
  • Blue, white, black and red acrylic paint
  • Pallet
  • Variety of paintbrushes
  • Pencil
  • Bowl of water
  • Surface to paint (I used an old blanket)
It probably would've been smarter to use fabric paint, but I already have acrylic on hand, so that's what I used. And I'm still looking for a fabric paint sealer.

First coat of gesso. The gesso is needed to colors will be true and you won't have to layer it as much.

Both shoes are primed with 2 layers and ready for the next step, designing.

When the gesso is dry, with a pencil I roughly sketch out the design to follow with paint. Don't start painting until your happy with the proportions.

First coat of paint, without the black details. Let it dry and then add a second coat of paint.

Second coat of paint without black details. It looks rough around the edges, but the black with clean it up and make it look neat.

All done!!! Seal with a fabric sealer and go show them off.

This is an old pair of Toms that I painted, same steps, different design.

There is days

Some days are better than others. Some days the weight is too much to bear or ignore. But not today, today is a good day, i can feel it in my gut. Rise and shine.
