Sunday is Payday

Sunday is payday. And paydays are the best! Just not the candy, I hate the candy bar.
I completed my first week of work at the corner market. Being a cashier/stoker/janitor has taken a toll on my  body, I'm tired but I'll get used to. The first day was so hard! I was lost on a bunch of things, learning all the prices, and then doing the day's tally, UGH. I wish I had to clock in, scan the customer's merchandise, then clock out. But nope, little business, big responsibilities.
There's so many things I want to buy with my minimum wage check...but the smart and grown thing to do is save up, or give it to mom. Mom's always like money. So that's what I'll do.

Moving Day

My family and I have to move to a different house because the landlord sold the house. But it's not a big move, it's just down the street. Pretty lame-o! But whatever. We packed up all of our stuff, and it's A LOT and we our moving to our new house, right. down. the. street. I'm not emotionally attached to this house, we only lived here for 2 years, I didn't have my childhood here, but Marc is. He still misses our old house though, he tells us all the time. My wish is that one day we'll have a house under our name once again and Marc could have a house to always call home and a room painted and decorated to his liking. He said I could decorate his new room, but since we're renting I can't paint a mural like in his old room, little Marky would love that.
So right now I'm drinking the last bits of coffee and I feel my energy pills that I took for this long fay kicking in, that's a sign to get off the computer and get moving. Well on the bright side, I get to decorate a whole new room and Itzel and Marc said I could design their room as well. I'm happy. One day people will be handing me checks for designing their rooms.
Gonna go start moving, now!

DIY R2D2 Toms

My sister asked me to paint her Toms after seeing a pair of R2D2 Toms on Pintrest. So following the same design, I recreated them and I must say, they look pretty cool.

What you need

  • Gesso
  • Blue, white, black and red acrylic paint
  • Pallet
  • Variety of paintbrushes
  • Pencil
  • Bowl of water
  • Surface to paint (I used an old blanket)
It probably would've been smarter to use fabric paint, but I already have acrylic on hand, so that's what I used. And I'm still looking for a fabric paint sealer.

First coat of gesso. The gesso is needed to colors will be true and you won't have to layer it as much.

Both shoes are primed with 2 layers and ready for the next step, designing.

When the gesso is dry, with a pencil I roughly sketch out the design to follow with paint. Don't start painting until your happy with the proportions.

First coat of paint, without the black details. Let it dry and then add a second coat of paint.

Second coat of paint without black details. It looks rough around the edges, but the black with clean it up and make it look neat.

All done!!! Seal with a fabric sealer and go show them off.

This is an old pair of Toms that I painted, same steps, different design.

There is days

Some days are better than others. Some days the weight is too much to bear or ignore. But not today, today is a good day, i can feel it in my gut. Rise and shine.

5 years of love

Our 5th anniversity was on June 16th and instead of a dinner date or whatever, we opted for a photo shoot with my friend Amanda. I love the photos, they came out great.

That Polka Dot Dress

I have a polka dot dress that I love so much and my mom had one too. They're different dresses but I do believe I'm taking after my mom.

My mom was 20 or 21 here. Which is how old I am right now. And that cute little baby girl is moi :) We were at a church party.

Photobucket
This is me before going to a party last summer. I'm 20 in this picture, well I still am :) It's the same dress I'm wearing in blog picture. I did say I love this dress.  We're both 20 and fab!

Look. Don't touch.

Is it wrong to have a crush on someone while in a commited relationship? No. At least I don't think it is. I know my man is good looking but that doesn't mean there isn't other good looking men out there. Such as the sexy guy working a the cell phone kiosk at the mall with that smile he flashes at me whenever I walk by for the 3rd or 4th time (why did I come to mall anyway). He's just eye candy though. I wouldn't dare exchange numbers with him or anything beyond that. Just think back to 3rd grade and you had a crush on the cutest guy in your class but you were to shy to flirt, I don't even think I knew what flirting was, but all I knew is that he was cute and I would die if he knew that I constantly day dreamed about him. It's just like that, an innocent crush. I don't love my boyfriend any less or think he's less attractive having some eye candy and especially because I know he checks out other girls. We'll be in line at QT and he'll say "That girl has nice legs", but it's alright because it's my legs that will be wrapped around him later on and mine are nicer.

Crushes come and go but our reletionship gets stronger by the year. I'll continue admiring God's work from a distance and that's it. It's pleasure for the eyes and who doesn't want pleasures in life? Just remember to look, not touch.

Living the Life...

Or so I thought I would at this age. My 21st birthday is coming up in about a month, 4 weeks and 6 days to be exact; but who's counting? When I was about 10 or so I had my future planned out, supposably. I was going to move to NYC, live in a chic apartment with my best friend and we would become celebrity hair stylists with our own salon. Everyone would want us to do their hair. Then I wanted to be a clothes designer in LA, I would sketch up dresses and draw the celebrites from my mom's magazines in their red carpet gowns. I once drew Pamala Anderson and she just has the hugest boobs, off the subject. Singer and professional violinist were also on the list. So, I'm going to be 21, I'm still living with my parents, not paying bills on top of bills and I still sleep with a teddy bear, it makes a good pillow, okay? Not living the life I had in my 10 year old brain, but that's "just ok", as my little brother would say. Life rarely goes as planned, you can only control so much. I'm going with the flow. I'm on my way to going back to school, after 3 years of graduating high school :/ but I'm on my way. Who was the smart guy who decided to make college so expensive anyways, JEEZ! I see myself moving out soon. The little girl in me would probably be shaking her head at me for not being famous with my craft in a big city, probably scold me, because that's just what I do.
I'm going to have my first legal drink, because it's basically a rite of passage, get a little drunk, then go on with life. I'm still going to be the same, not gonna grow an inch from getting a pinch, my birthday candle wish won't come true, but I'll still make a wish, because I'm optimistic, and we'll hold back on the b-day punches. 21 is pretty high up there. I'm proud of my myself for going through the process of becoming a grown up, maybe I won't ever be a grown up, at heart, but I'm doing it just like all the 20 going on 21 year olds.

My Week in Photos

I haven't blog and ooooooh, a long time. I just kind of drifted off. So I'm going to start with some photos from my sucky camera phone(hopefully I can keep on it)

I was out on my front yard, soaking up some sunlight, when this little butterfly came about. i hang around for about 10 minutes and I bet a looked like an idiot chasing it for this blurry picture.

My brother just grabbed my yoga mat and said, "I'm going to shoot you with my bazooka. BBSSSH!!!!" I was cracking up.

I tried Nutella for the first time in my life, and let me tell you...it DOES live up to it's reputation. If you have ever ate a Duvalin(Mexican candy) it tastes just like chocolate side. I've been eating it everyday.

I'm addicted to nail polish. I hate having bare nails, artless nails to be exact. I saw a design on Pintrest and tried to copy it and failed, but I still like the way it came out.

Sunday mornings call for a hearty breakfast and mom hoked it up like always. She got a bit creative with the e eggs. She grilled an onion ring then cooked the egg in it side side up. Very cool, Mom.
